The Corporate Counsel Intern will investigate complaints, assist in-house counsel, and work on various legal areas including Employment Law and Investigations, as well as Real Estate and Healthcare.

Responsibilities

Investigating and analyzing complaints from associates stemming from Publix’s internal processes, discharge resolution, and formal complaint procedure
Drafting reports at the conclusion of investigations
Representing Publix at unemployment compensation hearings
Assisting in-house counsel, management, and Employment Law Investigators with various tasks
Working in various other areas of Corporate Counsel such as: Real Estate/Facilities Legal/Contracts, Healthcare & Privacy, Consumer Benefits Licensing (Regulatory & Compliance), Environmental and Sustainability

Qualification

Required

Must be an actively enrolled student not graduating prior to the start of the Summer Internship Program in May
Must be pursuing a Juris Doctorate degree and completed 1L and entering 2L year
Basic knowledge of MS Word, Power Point, Excel
Strong written and analytical problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organizational skills to complete assignments in a timely manner
High level of maturity, judgement, and tact
Valid driver's license
Willingness to work long hours at times and travel when needed
