Responsibilities
Review patient accounts for accuracy and completeness
Prepare, complete, and submit both paper and electronic claims in a timely manner
Correct claim edits and process rejections, denials, and payer correspondence
Post all types of payments and apply adjustments as needed
Process pre-authorizations, document responses, and follow up as required
Audit patient accounts to ensure billing accuracy and compliance
Interact with internal departments to resolve billing-related issues
Provide billing customer service and accurately document all patient interactions
Process patient statements and enter billing data into accounting systems
Review past-due accounts and follow up with patients and insurance carriers
Generate and manage Patient Balance Aging and Insurance Aging reports
Arrange and document payment plans with patients
Escalate complex or unresolved accounts to the Supervisor in a timely manner
Attend required training sessions and perform additional duties as assigned by management
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university OR High school diploma (or equivalent) with 4 years of full-time experience in interviewing, investigation, credit/collections, bookkeeping, or a related field
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
(30 semester credits = 1 year of experience)
All candidates must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
Proficiency with computer systems and electronic billing platforms
Excellent communication and customer service skills
