Project Engineer

ALPLA Group is a global family-owned company specializing in innovative, customized, recycled packaging for major brands. The Project Engineer will be responsible for designing equipment layouts, specifying new production equipment, and liaising with stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.

Responsibilities

Designs layouts of equipment
Assists in specifying new production equipment including researching of available providers, determination of specifications, obtaining quotations, recommending purchases, performing factory-acceptance-tests, arranging installation, completing startup, training, and performance qualification
Assists Automation team to find the ideal setup for the Factory flow
Liaises with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis
Estimates the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals
Drafts and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary
Identifies and negotiates with other Internal functional areas for required personnel
Tracks project milestones and deliverables
Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
Ensures correct information for quotations
Cost
Feasibility
Cycle time estimation
Efficiencies
Machine and mold configuration
Secondary packaging layout
Projects or sub-projects
Other duties as assigned

Qualification

Required

Minimum 2-year degree (Associates) in related field or equivalent
3 to 5 years experience as an Engineer in production is required
Strong organizational skills
Effective communication skills
Strong mechanical aptitude and skills
Mechanical and electrical skills
Knowledge of packaging systems
Ability to create engineering drawings
Experience with Microsoft Office
Thorough understanding of technical aspects of different types of equipment
Travel within the US up to 70% or more is expected
Act in a safe and environmentally responsible manner at all times by adhering to all ALPLA policies and procedures and Safety Standards (OSHA)

Preferred

4-year degree (Bachelor)
Preferably experience within the plastics industry
Lean Six Sigma (Green belt or Black Belt)
PMP (Project Management Professional)
CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management)
