Software Engineering Manager

The Boeing Company is looking for a Tactical Software Engineering Manager to join the Air Dominance team. The role involves leading a team of Software Engineers in the design, development, and integration of embedded software solutions for mission-critical systems, while fostering collaboration and innovation across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a diverse team of embedded software engineers performing engineering and technical activities
Proactively assess and manage software staffing needs; create a healthy talent and skill pipeline to meet project resource timelines
Drive technical planning and execution, including analyzing and responding to team agile metrics, Earned Value Management (EVM) duties to ensure the team consistently meets or exceeds planned cost, schedule, technical performance, safety, and quality targets
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, quality assurance, coworkers, customers, to ensure seamless integration of software components, meet all requirements, and efficient and accurate communication throughout the project lifecycle
Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining composure and professionalism in stressful situations, with a strong sense of cultural awareness and sensitivity
Provide guidance and direction to team members to ensure adherence to Software Engineering Design Practices, Independent Verification & Validation, and other engineering excellence initiatives
Mentor and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and professional growth within the team
Engage with stakeholders, including customers and regulatory bodies, to communicate project status, address concerns, and ensure alignment with program objectives

Required

Active Secret Security Clearance
Ability to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance (post-start) and ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only
1+ years of exposure to Agile development methodologies including planning activities, incremental development processes and collaboration techniques
3+ years of experience working with cross-functional teams

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering or experience typically acquired through advanced technical education
Background in Mission Systems engineering development activities
Proficiency with DevSecOps and modern Software Development practices
Strong communication skills and a natural leadership style that inspires action, motivates excellence, and fosters innovation, while effectively interfacing with senior leadership, customers, and regulatory agencies
Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and deliver results on time and within budget
Previous experience in an engineering management and/or team lead position
