Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and maintenance of Guidewire's application platform, primarily focusing on backend services but with flexibility to occasionally work with infrastructure and frontend
Apply agentic coding tools as Guidewire uses them to dramatically accelerate development
Engineer for quality, scalability, availability, and security in every aspect of the platform
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and efficient platform operations, supporting Guidewire's mission of operational excellence and transformative innovation
Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience in backend software engineering, with a strong track record in system design and building core platform services
Experience with coding agents and automation tools
Deep expertise in one of Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, but able to quickly adjust to other languages
Experience building APIs, microservices, and distributed systems at scale
Excellent collaboration, communication, and leadership skills
Experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure as code
