Cadastral Technician I

Kootenai County is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join their Land Records Division as a Cadastral Technician I. This role involves processing complex property documents, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and supporting the Assessor's Office in accurate property assessments.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Review and interpret Recorder's Office documents daily, identifying records that need processing by the Assessor's Office divisions
Read and interpret various legal descriptions (lot & block, metes and bounds, etc.) to identify properties impacted by recorded documents
Perform accurate data entry into the Assessment and Tax database, including name/address changes, splits, merges, and property ownership updates
Conduct in-depth research to ensure accurate property descriptions and resolve issues related to deed processing and legal descriptions
Assist the public and Assessor's Office staff with questions about plats, property addresses, and descriptions
Collaborate with your team to identify more efficient ways to process documents and streamline workflows across divisions
Create and submit monthly reports on your completed tasks to keep everyone up to date on progress

Required

Associate's degree or certification in a related field (Business Education, Surveying, GIS, etc.)
At least three years of experience working with real property title or land records (or a combination of education and experience)
Strong attention to detail
Solid understanding of legal and property documentation
Ability to work independently while contributing to a team
