Responsibilities

Serve as the Advanced Manufacturing Engineer within the business unit by:
Mentor less experienced engineers on design practices, unit health monitoring, and troubleshooting
Provide support of abnormal and non-routine operations, including unit Turnarounds
Aid in the development of long term vision and strategy for product line improvements
Organize and design plant testing and product trials
Influence others and drive toward solutions without direct authority
Work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines, operations, and mechanical personnel and interface with corporate technology support
Ability to interface with 3rd party vendors (cost optimizations as well as developing/driving solutions)
Lead/support incident investigations as technical lead
Provide support for developing and implementing various capital projects to drive margin or mitigate SHE risk
Provide assistance in the field during plant startups, shutdowns or upsets
Demonstrate courage of conviction to drive healthy tension for both business team and corporate technology support to promote fit for purpose outcome

Required

B.S. (or higher) degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
3+ years of industry-related experience
Demonstrated design experience
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Capable of working independently and achieving high standards
Capable of working with and leading teams effectively
Mentor / role model for setting work standards and business ethics
Leadership skills to influence Operations team

Preferred

Experience in Petroleum Refining or Chemical industries or with an industry-adjacent contractor
Familiarity with advanced controls strategies / optimization software
Risk assessment and HAZOP experience
Understanding of modelling software (PROII, ASPEN, etc)
