Director of Business Development
BE&K Building Group is seeking a Director of Business Development who will be responsible for prospecting and securing construction management and design-build business opportunities. This role requires strong leadership and interpersonal skills to develop client relationships and implement strategic plans for business growth.
Responsibilities
Identify New Opportunities: Proactively seek out and identify potential business opportunities in the commercial construction industry
Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, suppliers, and industry professionals
Strategic Planning: Create and implement strategic plans to achieve business growth and market expansion
Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape
Sales Leadership: Lead and mentor the business development team, setting clear goals and expectations
Proposal Management: Oversee the preparation and submission of construction bids and proposals, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness
Client Management: Manage key client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and long-term partnerships
Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on business development activities, sales performance, and market insights
Qualification
Required
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Strong leadership/coordination acumen
Ability to aggressively prospect, identify, qualify, develop, and secure construction management and design-build business opportunities
Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Strategic understanding of AEC sales processes and business operations
Pharmaceutical Industrial Manufacturing background
Four-year degree in business administration, communications, marketing, construction, or a similar technical-related field
8-10 years of business development experience with 3-5 years in the construction industry
Able to work well with and persuade people at all levels of an organization
Able to establish SMART goals and achieve them
Able to plan, prioritize, organize, multi-task, and monitor activities and opportunities
Excellent oral presentation and written skills
Willingness to travel as required for client meetings and industry events
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Ability to sit for extended periods of time
Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods
Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms
Ability to lift and carry office supplies and equipment up to 20 pounds
Preferred
8-10 years of business development experience with 3-5 years of this experience being in the construction industry
Previous sales experience in Life Sciences, Aviation + Aerospace, and/or Industrial + Manufacturing, Food & Beverage and Data center markets
Experience supported by an in-depth understanding of the various stages of qualifications-based proposal/presentation methods
