Senior Distribution Engineer Representative

The Senior Distribution Engineering Representative is responsible for engineering design, cost estimation, project coordination, and field inspection of electric power distribution projects, while providing technical leadership and ensuring adherence to industry standards.

Responsibilities

Design, estimate, and coordinate the construction of overhead and underground power distribution systems for residential, commercial, and industrial customers
Lead and manage Capital and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) projects through all phases, from concept development through construction closeout
Apply advanced engineering judgment to resolve complex technical challenges and system constraints
Identify and implement innovative engineering solutions to improve system reliability, safety, and cost efficiency
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including operations, construction, and planning, to ensure project success
Champion a strong safety culture by consistently applying and promoting the highest standards of personal and team safety
Ensure all engineering designs and field activities comply with internal quality standards, company procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements
Incorporate safety-by-design principles into all distribution engineering solutions
Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical support to junior engineers and technical staff
Lead by example in interpreting and applying construction bulletins, engineering standards, and operating procedures
Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the engineering team
Stay current with evolving industry standards, technologies, and best practices through ongoing training and professional development
Perform and/or support field inspections to verify construction compliance with approved designs, standards, and codes
Provide engineering recommendations and design modifications to ensure system integrity and regulatory compliance
Co-lead high-visibility and mission-critical projects, including key accounts, critical infrastructure, and politically sensitive installations
Prepare accurate engineering designs, cost estimates, project documentation, and technical reports
Maintain complete and accurate records related to project scope, cost, schedule, and compliance
Conduct technical research and analysis to support engineering decisions and project recommendations
Serve as a primary technical point of contact for internal and external client stakeholders
Communicate complex technical information clearly and professionally to non-technical audiences
Address client concerns promptly and provide practical, actionable engineering solutions
Build and maintain strong working relationships that support long-term client satisfaction and trust
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required to support organizational goals and evolving business needs

Required

Bachelor's degree or +7 years of progressive power distribution engineering experience
Demonstrated advanced technical competency and familiarity with power distribution engineering industry standards
Must have a satisfactory background and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
Ability to pass pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and/or random drug testing
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong customer service orientation with demonstrated professional judgment
Proven ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or collaboratively in a team environment
Demonstrated project management and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, Fulcrum, IKE PoleForeman and Bluebeam
Working knowledge of customer and engineering tools, including JETS, GIS, SOCKET, TCMS, and DistView
Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and manuals, including NEC, NESC, Distribution Bulletins, Engineering Handbook, Distribution Specifications, Distribution Operating Procedures, Arc Flash Requirements, Metering Blue Book, and Franchise Manual
Ability to work safely around electrical and mechanical hazards
Ability to operate light measuring and inspection instruments
Potential exposure to environmental conditions including dirt, heat, fumes, smoke, water, noise, vibration, grease, oil, and dust
Ability to perform field work in industrial and outdoor environments
Ability and willingness to work occasional excess straight time as business needs require
Ability to travel up to approximately 25% of the time
