Responsibilities
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables, or study sample parts
Work on the dimensions and tolerances provided by blueprints
Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine tools, including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools, to perform precision
Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools
Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
Edit programs as needed / Write short programs as needed
Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine the need for adjustments or repairs
Separate scrap waste and related materials for reuse, recycling, or disposal
Scan all jobs through the Made2Manage (M2M) system
Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to the supervisor
Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent required
One year of machine shop experience required
Completion of a technical trade school apprentice program within four years is required
Ability to use measuring devices to verify that work meets blueprint specifications
Basic shop math skills, including knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and their applications, are required
Able to edit programs
Able to write short programs
Ability to communicate clearly
Possess effective organization and time management skills, be detail-oriented, use good judgment, manage competing priorities for multiple projects, and consistently meet all deadlines
Must have experience in both CNC and manual operations
Preferred
Completion of a technical trade school, or the equivalent of education and experience, or trade certification for a general Machinist is preferred
Prefer them to have both FANUC and HAAS controls for Lathes
