Responsibilities

Ensures department goal setting aligns with long-term AutoNation and Technology strategies. Develops business case and ROI to support initiatives and tracks and reports on performance
Establishes plans, processes and departmental strategies needed to meet those objectives
Typically leads diverse functions or processes, coordinating and integrating across organizational and functional boundaries as appropriate
Partners with and integrates across other areas of the organization, resolving conflicts and managing competing priorities, to provide a complete solution
Is accountable for the technical direction of the group, leveraging technical experts and fostering technical innovation
Creates and maintains their organization and contributes to the design of the overall Technology organization to optimally support the business
Drives medium-term (e.g., 1-3 years) strategic and policy decisions impacting the organization. Counsels and advises leadership on relevant technology strategies and policies
Proactively makes recommendations to business partners regarding the development of new services, projects and goals that further support and strengthen the capabilities of the business unit and AutoNation
Ensures quality, compliance, regulatory, and fiscal standards are met for their areas
Develops budget for their areas and ensures budget objectives are achieved through managers and other team members
Makes hiring decisions
Is responsible for all performance-related activities, including preparing and delivering performance reviews and any disciplinary recommendations

Required

Broad experience in the technical areas led, with the ability to identify and leverage technical experts in different specialized fields
Understands technical issues across diverse Technology functions or services but does not necessarily possess deep technical expertise in all the areas they supervise
Exercises judgment and influence on key technical decisions (for example, standards and policies, environment selection, technical solutions) within various groups
Develops processes/mechanisms to ensure that new technical developments related to their area(s) are identified, assessed, and integrated as appropriate
