Lead Field Service Engineer - Dynamic Positioning Systems
Core Group Resources is seeking a highly skilled Lead Field Service Engineer with expertise in automation and dynamic positioning systems to support marine clients across North America. This role involves overseeing installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of complex systems onboard ships and at shipyard facilities, ensuring clients’ systems run smoothly and safely.

Responsibilities
Lead the installation and commissioning of automation and dynamic positioning (DP) systems at shipyards and on vessels during new construction projects
Diagnose and resolve technical issues on-site, at sea, or during port visits, providing remote support as needed
Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including procedures for commissioning, maintenance, and training
Deliver technical training and support to customer teams to ensure proper system operation and maintenance
Serve as a technical project lead to ensure high-quality execution and customer satisfaction, identifying opportunities for additional services and system upgrades
Collaborate with engineering teams on upgrade projects and prepare comprehensive service reports
Work onboard vessels or in shipyards, adhering to strict safety protocols, with domestic and international travel (up to 85%) required
Support emergency and peak operational needs, including extended hours and overtime when necessary
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; alternatively, an associate's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or a high school diploma/GED with 8+ years of industry experience
Proven experience in marine automation and dynamic positioning systems
Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
Willing and able to travel extensively, often on short notice (up to 85%)
Ability to board offshore vessels and complete offshore survival training such as HUET
U.S. Person status with the ability to obtain necessary security clearances for defense-related projects
Physically capable of working in offshore and shipyard environments, adhering to safety and environmental regulations
Preferred
Prior experience with customer service and technical leadership in marine environments
Familiarity with USACE safety and environmental standards (EM 385-1-1)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and technical documentation software
Background in shipyard or construction settings
