ESY- Mobility & Orientation - **OPEN TO CURRENT CUSD CERTIFICATED EMPLOYEES ONLY
Capistrano Unified School District is seeking qualified teachers for the Extended School Year (ESY) program. The role involves teaching during the summer session and requires appropriate credentials and experience in the subject or grade level.

Responsibilities
Have taught the subject or grade level within the past three years and holds appropriate credential for the subject
Notification of eligibility for employment does not guarantee a summer position for the teacher
Employment is dependent upon sufficient student enrollment throughout the entire summer session
All teachers will be notified as early as possible about any changes to their summer employment status
In the event a classroom needs to be dissolved and a teacher needs to be released, the teacher will be selected in the following order: (1) volunteers; (2) regular year substitutes/student teachers; (3) regular year temporary teachers; (4) regular year probationary teachers; (5) regular year tenured teachers
All qualified unit members shall be given the opportunity to apply for Extended School Year Positions
Applications for Extended School Year positions shall be submitted by April 15 with notification of tentative assignment by the first working day in June
ESY teacher applicants must be available to teach the entire summer session. No shared assignments will be permitted
Has experience consistent with the summer school courses approved by the Board of Trustees, which use current methods, techniques, or approaches, especially in courses for students who have been unable to succeed in regular classes
If you are not selected for a teaching position and are approved to substitute, you will be paid at the current substitute teacher rate of pay ($21.00 per hour)
Note: Only individuals who are listed on the approved ESY substitute list may work as a substitute during the summer session
Since ESY is an additional assignment and not part of the regular contractual school year, jury duty summons and conference attendance will need to be postponed until the completion of the summer session
All absences from summer school except bereavements will be deducted from accumulated sick leave
A teacher may not use a non-compensation day and carry their sick day over to the regular school year sick bank
If a teacher misses excessive days (3 or more) or fails to secure a sub and notify the administrator, the teacher may be released
ESY prep hours must be utilized to attend the site ESY orientation meeting, to prepare instructional materials for the summer session, and if required, attend ESY training
All permanent and probationary teachers may be considered for ESY employment, regardless of RIF status
