Principal Computer & Electrical Engineer

Naval Nuclear Laboratory is dedicated to ensuring the safety and reliability of the nation's naval nuclear reactors. They are seeking a Principal Computer & Electrical Engineer to support the GERALD R. FORD class of aircraft carriers, focusing on the design, integration, testing, and support of electrical I&C systems.

Responsibilities

Maintaining and implementing improvements to hardware and software system designs for various shipboard control systems
Development and maintenance of procedures for equipment operation
Troubleshooting instrumentation and control system issues
Developing and performing equipment tests
Performing detailed technical evaluations
Authoring technical reports
Regular verbal and written communications with co-workers, management, and customers
Supporting the construction of new aircraft carriers as well as the operating fleet
Becoming involved in wider initiatives in the I&C community and significantly contributing to next generation I&C design

Required

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company
All candidates must be U.S. citizens
Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter
FMP is a government contractor and maintains a drug free workplace and workforce
All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707

Preferred

Experience writing functional requirements
Experience writing formal correspondence
Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills are highly desirable
Strong written and verbal communications skills with an ability to articulate technical ideas in a clear and concise manner
