Responsibilities
Conduct thorough inspections on commercial vehicles, including brakes, tires, lights, steering, and suspension
Verify DOT compliance
Check for proper cargo securement and compliance with safety standards
Operate vehicle scales to detect overweight loads
Document inspection results clearly and accurately using internal systems
Maintain inspection lane equipment and report maintenance needs
Notify Shop Foreman of safety violations or out-of-service conditions
Provide courteous, clear communication to drivers regarding inspection results
Respond to public inquiries regarding commercial vehicle regulations as needed
Qualification
Required
Strong understanding of commercial vehicle components and federal safety regulations
Detail-oriented and able to complete accurate documentation
Comfortable using computer systems for data entry
Professional, safety-conscious, and dependable
Able to work outdoors and in varying conditions
Preferred
1+ year of experience in transportation, inspection, or DOT compliance preferred
