Responsibilities
Manage Phase I and Phase II recovery simultaneously within the post-anesthesia care area, maintaining a 1:2 patient ratio in accordance with ASPAN guidelines
Provide care for pediatric patients aged six months and older, frequently encountering surgeries such as tonsillectomies, tube placements, and adenoidectomies, as well as orthopedic and appendectomy procedures
Support recovery for both inpatient and outpatient procedures, including elective, add-on, urgent, and emergent cases
Observe and care for patients undergoing unique procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis, and procedures requiring monitored anesthesia care (MAC)
Ensure safe and effective recovery of ICU patients and post-endoscopy cases under anesthesia
Participate in on-call rotations, which include a 24-hour weekend shift once every six weeks, plus weekday on-call duties
Qualification
Required
Nursing degree
Active registered nurse (RN) license
Minimum 1+ years RN experience
Preferred
Familiarity with peripheral nerve blocks
Competence caring for a diverse patient population, including pediatric and critical care
Ability to manage fluctuating patient volumes, ranging from low census to busy surgical days
Strong understanding of ASPAN guidelines for post-anesthesia care
