Digital Communications Specialist

Children’s Hospital Association is dedicated to advancing care for children by uniting over 200 member hospitals. The Digital Communications Specialist will focus on content creation, community engagement, and performance monitoring to support advocacy and campaigns aligned with CHA's strategic communications plan.

Responsibilities

Create and publish engaging, brand-aligned content across social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) for the association’s advocacy-related activities
Partner with team members to implement an advocacy social media content calendar and ensure timely delivery of posts
Collaborate with hospital members to ensure timely social media engagement
Monitor social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions, responding to inquiries and engaging with followers in a values-based, professional and timely manner
Attend CHA advocacy-focused events to capture content and provide support for association leadership
Lead live social media X chats or live streams
Update design templates using tools like Canva or Adobe Express
Guide short-form video editing or coordination for social media use
Work closely with media relations, policy, federal affairs, and external affairs teams to support campaigns and initiatives
Track and report on KPIs such as engagement, reach, and follower growth

Required

Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field
A minimum of 3 years' experience managing social media accounts, preferably for an advocacy-focused nonprofit or association
Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and work under pressure to meet deadlines
Have a strong executive presence with the ability to engage professionally with stakeholders of all backgrounds and levels
Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills
Proficiency in social media platforms and scheduling tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite)
Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
Experience in basic video editing
Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills
Understanding of strategic messaging and strong writing skills for all social platforms
Knowledge of hospitals, health care, and or children's issues
Understanding of social media and online communications. Fluency in a wide variety of social media trends and platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, YouTube, etc
Excellent writing, conceptual, analytical, and organizational skills
Ability to attend events outside of traditional work hours and travel up to 15%
