SAFETY TECHNICIAN

Responsibilities

You will conduct inspections of facilities, noting hazardous conditions, practices and or equipment
You will utilize various software to create trackers, spreadsheets, reports and correspondence
You will greet visitors, answer and direct phone calls to personnel or other offices as needed
You will assist with pre-planning high risk course developments, course and equipment relocation and when new equipment, trainers, or training platforms and facilities are planned for utilization
You will collaborate with others to determine root causes and follow up to advise if implemented solutions addressed the identified issues
You will review logs daily and input information into appropriate database as required
You will maintain records and submit reports to assist in maintaining the annual budget

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR and AED certification
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conducting routine inspections to ensure compliance with current standard safety regulations. 2) Maintaining safety records and support documentation. 3) Interpreting and applying safety techniques and practices following required policies and procedures. 4) Identifying hazards and propose solutions to be implemented
Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7
