General Engineer (Testing And Evaluation)- DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY

Responsibilities
Performs multidisciplinary professional engineering work involved in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes to the acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment
Project Management - Functions as the organization's technical specialist in engineering management for major test and test support projects
Communication/Coordination - With the Test Engineer, serves as government point of contact for test customers and support contractors. Interfaces with test customers to define requirements and communicate progress
Technical Proficiency - As a professional engineer, performs work in the application of multiple engineering disciplines to support the design, development, procurement, production, testing, evaluation, sustainment or operational maintenance of AF and/or DoD-level systems with specialized applications

The work requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance
Employee must maintain current certifications
This position may require drug testing, and the candidate may be subject to passing a drug test upon selection
Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
Travel by regularly scheduled commercial or military aircraft in accordance with Joint Travel Regulations may be required in performance of TDY
The duties of this position require an advanced level of competence in basic science. The incumbent must possess an engineering degree from an institution with ABET accredited engineering program
Employee is expected to meet Continuing Acquisition Education requirements
A professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution in general engineering or a closely related field
Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise
Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems
Knowledge of professional aerospace engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services
Knowledge of development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment
Knowledge of integrated air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of aerospace vehicles, systems, equipment, and components
Knowledge of other engineering disciplines and standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures
Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches, and to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies
Knowledge of program/project management techniques and computer software
Preferred
Strong knowledge of high-speed/hypersonic systems, such as high-speed airbreathing engines or high-temperature materials
Familiarity with national facility-based test and evaluation capabilities
