SUPERVISORY FORESTER(FIRE MANAGEMENT OFFICER)

The U.S. Marine Corps is seeking a Supervisory Forester (Fire Management Officer) to serve as a subject matter expert and technical advisor in forest protection and wildlands fire management. Responsibilities

You will serve as the subject matter expert and technical advisor to the Head of the Environmental Conservation Branch and coordinates forest protection and wildlands fire management planning
You will assist with program oversight by working with Marine Corps higher headquarters and other forest and natural resources management program personnel to develop policies, objectives, and to resolve issues
You will provide technical and administrative supervision to a fire staff consisting of a Fire Management Specialist, Forestry Technicians, and Forestry Heavy Equipment Operators
You will direct and supervise all phases of budget management to assure balance in the section at varying levels of funding

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment

This position requires the incumbent to meet, within 24 months, the Wildland Fire Qualifications System Guide Division Group Supervisor, Incident Commander Type 4, and Prescribed Burn Fire Boss Type 2 qualifications
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license
Must pass the annual Work Capacity test at the Arduous, Moderate, or Light level, based on the incumbent's National Wildfire Coordinating Group incident management qualifications for their position
Must pass a pre-employment physical
You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment
This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision
You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning and executing forest protection and wildlands fire management programs, coordinating fire management activities, and integrating these programs and activities with interagency partners to support the mission
