Retirement Technician Supervisor
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Retirement Technician Supervisor for the Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS), which provides services to public school employees. The role involves overseeing a team of Retirement Technicians, managing member accounts, and ensuring compliance with retirement codes and regulations.

Responsibilities
Oversee a team of Retirement Technicians to apply the provisions of the Retirement Code, rules, regulations, PSERS legal opinions, business rules and procedures as they relate to member accounts, employer reported data, benefit eligibility and benefit determination
Conduct performance evaluations, monitor and approve leave requests, prioritize and assign work, coach staff to develop their skills, provide encouragement and support to staff to meet goals, and assist in training so staff can reach appropriate skill levels of their position
Provide direction, guidance, and inspiration to staff, facilitate positive change, manage the staff and responsibilities within the designated work unit, assist in development of work standards, goals, objectives, operational and procedural guidelines, communicate to all staff expectations, changes, and updates, and ensure staff complete all required trainings as well as provide opportunities for training that will grow their skills and career
Work closely with the Retirement Administrator to communicate, discuss, and assist with staff issues, establish goals and objectives, identify training needs, develop new or revise existing procedures to ensure efficiency and better workflows, and provide activity logs and production reports for management
Ensure all requests for information are researched and accurately answered, monitor the units effectiveness and workflows, develop short and long term plans to meet workload demands, and work with various staff from other Bureaus in PSERS to resolve problems
Qualification
Required
One year of experience as a Retirement Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Three years of experience in technical work in a pension system or related occupational area, which includes two years of experience applying mathematical formulas and principles; or
An Associate Degree and one year of technical experience in a pension system or related occupational area applying mathematical formulas and principles; or
An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which includes two years of experience applying mathematical formulas and principles in a pension system or related occupational area
You must meet the PA residency requirement
You must be able to perform essential job functions
A conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports
Preferred
Previous work experience in a pension system or related occupational area
Proficient in Microsoft office products
Ability to provide clear and logical communication both verbal and written
Enjoy analyzing data
Can manage workloads and changing priorities
Enjoy being a problem solver
Can use experience and logic to exercise independent decision-making related to work assignments
