Responsibilities

This requisition is seeking accomplished, self-motivated mid-career engineers to design, analyze, test and certify flight control systems and components for large commercial aircraft as well as to support the production and fleet operations of this equipment
Decomposes airplane level requirements into system level requirements and further decomposes system level requirements into component requirements
Participates in and/or lead system, component and detail certification efforts, including: creation of required certification artifacts, such as, system safety analysis, failure modes and effects analysis, and fault tree analysis; confirming and demonstrating traceability to regulatory requirements; and resolution of regulation conflicts
Gathers, defines and documents system level requirements to support flight control and mission or trajectory requirements definition
Resolves requirement conflicts. Performs and documents analysis and design of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems to validate or assess the system design or models
Participates in and/or lead system level and component level validation analysis and testing, including: test monitoring; analysis and test report authoring; supplier test report review and approval; test failure analysis; and test failure mitigation
Generally, these activities require successful cross-functional coordination within and outside of Boeing including with:, avionics, pilot/crew operations, airplane safety, aerodynamics, BCA systems software, suppliers, airline customers, and regulatory agencies
Develops solutions and disposition of issues to assure customer satisfaction
Works under general direction

Required

Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
5-7 years of technical experience working with Flight Controls
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a 'US Person' as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. 'US Person' includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Preferred

5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with System Safety Analysis including failure modes and effects analysis; fault tree analysis; common cause analysis, and single & multiple failure analysis
Knowledge/Experience with ARP 4754 and ARP 4761
Experience with flight controls system and component architecture
Experience in requirements development, design, analysis, and verification & validation of flight control systems
Experience using requirement management tools such as IBM Rational DOORS
Experience with manufacturing regulated and certified, safety critical components and software
