Early Career Apprentice
Airbus is a leading aerospace company, and they are seeking an Early Career Apprentice to participate in an education and occupational training program in manufacturing. This role combines on-the-job work experience with technical or classroom study to develop aviation manufacturing job skills for entry into the workforce.

Responsibilities
Applies corrosion protection products to the aircraft throughout the assembly process. Identifies opportunities for process improvements and participates in LEAN activities
Performs cleaning of interior and exterior of aircraft including permit required confined spaces while using basic methods such as wiping and scraping of metal shavings, liquids, etc
Performs the duties of confined space attendant with responsibility to monitor activities inside and outside of a confined space, keep accurate count of entrants, ensure awareness of all hazards in the space and surrounding area, and summons rescue and other emergency services as soon as it is determined that entrants may need assistance to escape from the confined space
Performs installation of protection covers such as formal protective covers and alternate methods of protection
Use authorized chemicals to clean aircraft
Perform repair work (concessions/discrepancies)
Positioning and assembly of components
Rework of external skin damage of the aircraft
Work in compliance with production orders, design documents, concessions and inspection procedures
Prepare and solve queries, ensure follow-up and give feedback
Examine and sort work orders and drawings
Prepare a job station for daily activity
Perform other duties as assigned
Assemble interior furnishing and equipping parts, including cockpit, doors, galleys, toilets and floor covering
Install and test electrical units/components
Inspect work of other team members, determine ways to eliminate disruptions/rework, complete systems before customer acceptance, and deliver presentations to customers
Install and manufacture components/parts (i.e. marking, connecting, assembling, bundling, painting, fitting, torqueing, bonding, attaching, disassembling, positioning and repairs)
Perform tests and inspections including but not limited to: the preparation and change of programs, checks system functions in compliance with work orders, inspects earth connections, performs continuity tests including GTI, start of operation, troubleshooting, debugging, entering of measured values and documenting same in the SAP system
Installs and produces electrical components at the station as per order including collecting, reading, comparing and set-up
Prepares electrical components at the station or workplace according to work order including marking, preparing, laying, connecting, assembling, bundling, painting and soldering of parts, assemblies and sub-assemblies
Adapts, torques and secures electrical components including: equipment panels, printed circuit boards, sections and the documentation of works and queries (e.g. PIR Book, outstanding work folio items)
Responsible for the sequencing and performance of work and subsequent results
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED
Completion of Airbus Flightpath9 Apprentice Education Program
Must be currently local to the Mobile, AL metropolitan area
Use of drilling tools, templates, drilling machines, fasteners, and torquing tools
Knowledge of station safety, quality (clean as you go/FOD) and OSHA Regulations
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Able to enter, generate and retrieve information using a computer (SAP and Excel knowledge required)
Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify markings and digital outputs on calibrated tools. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions
Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals
Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification
Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and arms
Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects
Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg
Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas and on the shop floor
Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings
Squatting/Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves
Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information
Travel/Mobility: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short notice. Able to work outside hangers in changing locations. Able to work on movable lifts at the aircraft at a height of approximately 40 ft. Able to enter a wing through a 9.8 inch by 17.7 inch oval opening, while sometimes working in a ventilated fuel tank with a respirator in a confined space
Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces
