Responsibilities
Set up an integrated hydrological model for a selected agriculture-dominated study area
Simulate key hydrological processes and water management measures, with calibration and validation based on observational data
Test the representation of various water management interventions in the model and assess their impacts on soil moisture, evapotranspiration, groundwater, and surface water under different climate scenarios
Identify suitable adaptation strategies for climate-stressed landscapes
Present research at meetings, workshops, and conferences and publish in scientific journals and conference proceedings
Contribute to teaching and supervise MSc students as needed
Qualification
Required
An MSc degree in Earth Sciences, Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or a related field relevant to the PhD topic
Passion for research and a background in hydrological modelling, hydrodynamic modelling, and/or groundwater modelling
Strong interest in GIS, Earth observation, programming (e.g., Python, R), field and lab work
Ability to work on real-world problems in an interdisciplinary and internationally oriented environment
Excellent communication skills and a strong command of the English language
Preferred
Fluency in Dutch or willingness to learn Dutch
