Seasonal Specialist - Parks
NEOGOV is seeking a Seasonal Specialist for the City of Westminster, CO. This role involves a variety of maintenance tasks in parks and recreational areas, including mowing, planting, and custodial work, while providing excellent customer service to the public.

Responsibilities
Assist with grounds maintenance which may include the following:
Mowing, edging, and weeding of parks, trails, lake, and right-of-ways
Planting and maintaining of trees, flowers and shrubs at parks
Removal of trash, cleaning of shelters, restrooms, and picnic shelters
Assists in applying granular and liquid fertilization applications
Operates light and heavy equipment including chippers, chainsaws, landscape construction equipment, skid-steers, industrial mowers, pick-up trucks (as approved by supervisor), mowers, backpack blowers, small dump trucks (as approved by supervisor), or similar equipment
Performs general custodial work at public facilities and open space areas including removing trash and cleaning of shelters and restrooms
Painting designated facilities and structures
Assists with a variety of construction-related projects and playground maintenance
Assists an Irrigator while making repairs
Performs irrigation system checks to ensure the system is operating efficiently
Possesses a valid driver’s license and maintains a safe driving record (for those approved to drive)
Maintains regular and punctual attendance
Assists with:
Dragging and lining fields, and packing home plate areas and pitching mounds
Reading and following athletic event schedules, attending athletic events, and other related meetings
Performing tractor work, fence repair, and irrigation
Assists with:
Planting and maintaining of trees and shrubs at parks, City facilities, and right-of-ways
Performing tractor work, fence repair, and irrigation
Assists mechanics in repairs of small and large equipment, tire repair, oil changes and related mechanical work
Retrieves and delivers parts
Assists in the maintenance of the Promenade Facility, including repairing and maintaining permanent structures in the Promenade
Performs general custodial work and day porter service at public facilities, including removing trash
Performs general routine maintenance as needed
Follows safety procedures and uses personal protection equipment such as goggles and ear protection
Qualification
Required
Must be at least 16 years of age to apply, must be 18 for most positions; limited positions are available for applicants ages 16 and 17
Must be at least 16 years of age
Demonstrate knowledge of practices used in park maintenance, lake maintenance, construction and repair
May operate equipment such as mowers, weeders, backpack blowers, hand tools and pick-up trucks
Demonstrate understanding and importance of safety rules and procedures
Understand and follow oral and written instructions
Demonstrate the ability to take care of equipment
Work independently and in a team environment and show initiative to complete tasks
Assist the public and City staff in a friendly and helpful manner establishing effective working relationships
Work in a high-use public facility environment
All employees are expected to provide excellent customer service, communicate in an effective manner both verbally and in writing, display professionalism and integrity, work efficiently, effectively and accurately, work independently and as part of a team, take initiative, solve problems, display good judgment, take ownership for delivering a high quality product or service, have regular and punctual attendance, and effectively handle emergency situations

Candidates must be legally entitled to work in the United States and must successfully pass a criminal background check, reference check, and substance screen
Preferred
Valid driver's license and maintenance of a safe driving record
Previous experience in one or more of the following areas: Daily maintenance of parks, open space and/or athletic fields
Operating light equipment and tools such as pick-up trucks, mowers, chippers, skid-steers
Planting, pruning, irrigating, fertilizing and maintaining flower gardens
Light maintenance and repair of fences or structures, custodial work
