ACCOUNTANT
Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) is looking for an Accountant in their Financial Management Division. The role involves processing financial transactions, performing audits, and providing customer service to resolve inquiries.

Responsibilities
You will process all incoming private-party reimbursable fund requests and transactions, including EBILLs, PAY.GOV payments, incoming wires, paper checks, and associated refunds
You will perform audits of processed transactions to ensure accurate financial postings
You will deliver exceptional customer service by working closely with internal stakeholders and external customers to resolve inquiries and expedite fund processing
You will assist management officials in applying financial information and data derived from statements or report to solve problems
You will review and approve/reject incoming document requests based on policy and funding criteria
Qualification
Required
At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Utilizing integrated financial management systems and sub-systems to extract data, identify and resolve system problems, and maintain data integrity
Evaluating to identify the causes of problems, and chooses courses of action that balance the interests of the mission and stakeholders
Applying fiscal law, policies, regulations, principles, standards, and procedures to financial management activities
Preparing, reviewing and reconciling financial statements and financial reports to meet reporting requirements and to support management decisions
Analyzing, evaluating and reviewing accounting data and reports using business tools and applications, and performance metrics to provide recommendations
Degree in accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting
At least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge
Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality, which can include up to 6 hours of business law
A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination
Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing
