Field Engineer
Oak Ridge National Laboratory is seeking a Field Engineer who will plan, schedule, estimate, and coordinate construction and maintenance activities across the site. The role involves ensuring contractor compliance with safety and quality standards while managing project expectations and facilitating communication among various stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Generate statements of work for procurement of goods, services, and subcontracts for construction and maintenance
Coordinate on-site activities and provide direct supervision of field work
Ensure compliance with ORNL environment, safety, health, and quality program requirements
Coordinate project meetings and documentation including Activity Hazard Analyses, work permits, requests for information, submittals, and scope changes between contractor and design team
Conduct daily inspections of all active work with focus on safety, environmental, technical conformance, schedule tracking, and change management
Provide constructability reviews, cost estimates and schedules for proposed projects
Prepare planning packages for outages of existing utilities. Coordinate with operations personnel and craft supervisors. Make notifications to impacted personnel
Perform oversight of maintenance activities of facilities and utilities, tracking progress, performing inspections, and documenting completion
Support configuration management of Chestnut Ridge Facilities by maintaining as-built records in real time
Witness acceptance testing as required in project specifications (pressure tests, concrete tests, load bank testing, commissioning, etc.)
Ensure project goals and customer satisfaction are being met

Qualification
Required
A BS degree in engineering or construction management
A minimum of 5 years of experience in supervision or management of infrastructure construction or facility maintenance
Experience in safety oversight, work planning, estimating, scheduling, testing and commissioning
Demonstrated experience in delivering projects from initiation through closeout
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with union craft, engineers, scientists, and business professionals
