Responsibilities
Serves as technical electrical design expert on teams composed of multidisciplinary engineers, architects, interior designers, project managers, and internal and external stakeholders engaged in the planning and design of complex, multidisciplinary unique projects of various types at TVA
Provides technical advice on the electrical aspects of work encompassing the planning and designing of Facilities for offices, service buildings, and facilities located in regional areas, transmission and generating sites at TVA
Incumbent functions as the specialist in electrical building systems maintenance, both preventive and corrective
Incumbent’s duties involve electrical engineering as practiced in the design and management of a preventive and corrective maintenance program for large, advanced state-of-the-art, office buildings
Primary electrical focus is building electrical systems
Incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing methods and procedures for the efficient and economical maintenance (preventive and corrective) of building systems
Performs studies to determine new methods of using existing or new technologies which improve building systems and provides better customer services
Identifies required maintenance actions based on a thorough knowledge and understanding of the various systems, equipment, and components and how they operate
Manufacturer recommendations are used as a guide, but the incumbent must base maintenance action decisions on measurements and calculations taken in the field and prior in-depth experience
Incumbent reviews Building Quality Improvements within the buildings, ensuring that such alterations do not impair electrical reliability, lighting levels or safety regulations
The incumbent reviews design drawings, communicates with BQI designs and reviews contractors work during construction to insure all modifications meet NEC, NFPA, Handicap and Building codes
Also, the incumbent insures the modifications can be maintained in a safe and cost effective way
May lead, coordinate, and review the work of a small multidiscipline staff of engineers and technicians or staff specialist may be assisted on projects by other engineers or technicians

Qualification
Required
A B.S. Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school is required
Experience in preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and a wide knowledge of various mechanical and electrical components and systems
Ability to design electrical systems up to and including 15kV levels including equipment sizing and arrangement
Ability to read and interpret diagrams, contracts, and test procedures
Ability to present ideas clearly and convincingly, orally and in writing
Ability to analyze and evaluate cost benefit, and make impartial decisions based on factual data
Ability to prepare reports, graphs, and other technical data utilizing statistical methods
Ability to work with all design disciplines and among the specialties within Facility Management and with other organizations
Ability to understand TVA policies, procedures necessary to coordinate activities related to the job; standards, and goals
Ability to work cooperatively as a technical lead and with employees at all levels, contractors, craftsmen, other technical disciplines and team members
Ability to organize work, develop clear and concise criteria and guidelines, develop and monitor schedules
Ability to make design decisions, develop standards and guidelines that represent TVA's overall business goals and objectives
Ability to plan and schedule craft work and resolve interface complexities between crafts to maintain schedules
Ability to prepare and present reports for management on budgetary requirements, work force loading, analysis of cost, and budget forecasting
Ability to analyze and assess the conditions of existing and future electrical installations, following prescribed codes such as the NEC
Ability to author electrical Scopes of Work and assess third party Scopes of Work
Working knowledge of Short Circuit, Coordination, and Arc Flash Hazard Studies
Working knowledge of NFPA70 and NFPA70E
Preferred
License as a Professional Engineer is preferred (may be required in accordance with TVA Business Practice 15)
