Academies Committee: Program Co-Chair

Digital Collegium is focused on enhancing educational experiences through well-organized events. The Program Co-Chair will work with the committee to develop event programs, recruit speakers, and ensure a successful execution of the event.

Higher Education

Responsibilities

Facilitate an environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds
Solicits presenters for the event, particularly focusing on their field or area of interest/expertise
Develop and promote the call for proposals and participate in general communications efforts as it affects the program
Reads and rates all proposals submitted by potential presenters
Schedules sessions, including community group discussions
Sends acceptances and confirmation emails to presenters
Communicates with presenters leading up to the event about presentation and event details, deadlines, and curriculum requirements
Gathers other information from presenters, including headshots and other promotional information
Conducts presenter orientation at least 6 weeks before the Academy begins, in conjunction with executive director, to ensure alignment of presenter’s material with learning topics and structure of the Academy
Assist with conference setup
Attend all committee meetings
Confirm that all presenters have arrived
Secure release form signature(s)
Confirm URL for a slide presentation if available
Ensure session moderation and introductions are staffed
Report any technical difficulty for assistance
Encourage completion of evaluation forms from session attendees
Send thank yous to event presenters
Distribute session evaluation results to event presenters

Required

Membership in the association, which can be fulfilled at application. (Free general membership for higher education professionals would meet this requirement.)
A detail oriented person that can stay on top of multiple responsibilities
Strong communication skills

Preferred

Previous experience managing a program of a professional event
Experience with developing online courses in an LMS
