Logistics Aide
East Pierce Fire & Rescue is seeking a Logistics Aide—an essential member of their team who ensures that the right equipment and supplies are in the right place at the right time. The role involves transporting materials, assisting with inventory, and operating vehicles and equipment safely, all while adhering to safety standards and maintaining operational readiness.

Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of out-bound orders for shipment, receiving in-bound freight, and ensuring accurate documentation
Assist in cycle counts, maintain inventory records, and restock supplies as needed
Pick up and deliver equipment, supplies, shop parts, freight, and mail/packages between stations, hospitals, vendors, and other District locations
Safely load, transport, distribute, and unload various firefighting, EMS and station equipment and/or supplies
Operate and maintain assigned District vehicles, a variety of trailers (including but not limited to dump, tilt, cargo), and specialized equipment used to load/unload such as scissor lifts and utility vehicles
Operate specialized systems such as District Breathing Air Centers/Fill Stations and laundry systems (washers, extractors and dryers) in accordance with established procedures
Locate items for purchase as directed; monitor expenses and maintain accurate records of expenditures and revenues; route all budget matters through proper channels
Respond to requests to deliver equipment and/or materials to emergency scenes
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Perform related work and special projects as assigned
Qualification
Required
A high school diploma or equivalent required
This position requires the use of a district-owned vehicle while conducting District business
The individual must be physically capable of operating motor vehicles safely and must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License with a driving record that is insurable by the District's insurance carrier
Knowledge of local geography and District routes, including hospitals and vendor locations, to ensure efficient deliveries
Ability to safely operate and maintain District vehicles, trailers (including dump, tilt, and cargo), and specialized equipment such as scissor lifts and utility vehicles
Skill in planning and optimizing delivery routes and maintaining accurate travel logs and documentation
Ability to load, secure, and transport firefighting, EMS, and station equipment in compliance with safety standards
Proficiency in operating District Breathing Air Centers/Fill Stations and laundry systems (washers, extractors, dryers)
Use tact and courtesy with internal and external contacts
Demonstrates ethical conduct, integrity, and accountability in all actions
Demonstrates strong organizational skills, attention to detail, effective communication, problem-solving, adaptability, teamwork, time management, and a customer-focused attitude to support efficient workplace operations and foster a positive environment
Complete assignments accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner with minimal supervision, aligning with the mission and needs of the District
Communicate in the English language, both orally and in writing
Apply knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and codes to effectively perform the essential functions of the role
Proficient in office technology, including Microsoft Office Suite, relevant applications and software, and hardware
Carry out assignments in a timely manner that fulfills the mission and needs of the District
Travel between various worksites as necessary to fulfill the needs of the District

A minimum of one year of experience with logistics, delivery, or inventory preferred
Benefits
Medical and Vision insurance is offered through the LEOFF Health and Welfare Trust as part of the Premera Blue Cross Group Plan, Heritage Plus Network. The District currently pays 100% of the medical premiums for employees and their families.
Dental Insurance is offered through the Washington Counties Insurance Fund (WCIF). Currently WCIF offers two plans to choose from: Washington Dental Service/Delta Dental (WDS) and Willamette Dental. The District currently pays 100% of the medical premiums for employees and their families.
A VEBA is a tax-free health reimbursement arrangement. The District contributes an annual and monthly amount to an employee's VEBA, and employee's contribute a monthly amount.
Eligible fire district employees contribute a percentage of their salary to the Department of Retirement Systems (DRS), Public Employee's Retirement System Plan 2 or Plan 3. EPFR also contributes a percentage on a monthly basis to your retirement account. These percentages are set by DRS each year.
EPFR currently contributes six percent (6%) of an employee's monthly base salary into a section 457(b) deferred compensation plan of the employee's choice of programs offered by the District. No matching is required.
EPFR pays the premiums for basic life insurance with two plans. First with Washington State Council of Fire Fighters (WSCFF) offering $15,000 in basic life, plus an additional $15,000 AD&D. Second with Washington Counties Insurance Fund in the amount of $12,000.
EPFR pays the premiums for $50,000 additional life insurance with WSCFF for each full-time member. Employees can purchase additional life insurance for themselves, their spouse, or dependent children from either WSCFF or WCIF, both underwritten by The Standard.
All members of EPFR are offered an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This service is available to you and anyone residing in your home. The program offers confidential, professional help for issues such as drug or alcohol problems, marital difficulties, child and family problems, emotional stress, job stress, etc. Employees receive six (6) visits at no cost per issue.
Employees earn a generous vacation accrual based on years of service.
Employees earn paid sick leave at the rate of ten (10) hours per month.
EPFR recognizes 12 holidays, plus 1 floating holiday and 24 hours of personal time off (PTO).
