Systems Technician - Pumps and Controls
The City of Salem Public Works Department is hiring a Systems Technician in the Pumps and Controls Unit. This role is responsible for maintaining essential water and wastewater systems, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and collaborating with other technicians to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities
Inspect City facilities to identify and resolve deficiencies
Perform routine preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment
Troubleshoot and respond to alarms
Collaborate with other technicians to ensure smooth operation of water and wastewater systems
Support the maintenance and repair of the City’s water treatment plants, reservoirs, and water/wastewater pump stations
Handle electrical and electronic maintenance, including the repair, replacement, or overhaul of control systems, instrumentation, and programmable controller monitoring systems
Qualification
Required
Must pass the pre-employment background check
Must be able to pass pre employment drug test (including marijuana)
Must have an Oregon Driver's license and have a driving record that meets the City of Salem's driving standards. Depending on area of assignment, a CDL may be required
Graduation from high school, or G.E.D., supplemented by the completion of technical courses in pump repair, electricity, electronic instrumentation, or related subjects; and three (3) years of work experience in the maintenance of industrial pumps, motors, and controls and in electrical and electronic work with programmable controllers, microprocessor-based systems, or distributed control systems; or any combination of experience and training that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities as listed, and ability to perform the examples of work
Electrician License, Limited Maintenance (LME) required
Preferred
Oregon Wastewater Collections Level I Certification
Crane Operators License
Oregon Water Distribution or Treatment Level I certification
