Protection / Power Technician

Responsibilities

Fault finding, installation, testing, programming, maintenance and repair of substation and electrical assets
Managing substation, transformers and switch gear maintenance, repairs, and installations
Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to trouble shoot and solve equipment
Carry out relevant quality checks and audits

Qualification

Electrical EngineeringPower Assets ExperienceHV Substation ExperienceElectrical LicenceFault FindingTeamworkPositive Attitude

Required

Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or an Electrical certificate or licence
Minimum 5+ years industry experience in power assets
Hold registration (full, provisional, or limited) from the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) as an Electrician or Electrical Engineer
Practical industry related experience is essential
Strong background working on electrical distribution networks

Preferred

Proven experience with HV, substation, or power transmission is highly desirable
Prior experience with Transpower is considered a significant advantage
