Responsibilities
Operate in the TMC to facilitate safe and efficient movement for roadway users
Continuously monitor traffic flow in the vicinity of events and construction zones and determine when and where it is significantly impacted
Determine the appropriate signal timing flush plans to improve traffic flow; implement timing and phasing changes
Investigate traffic related issues and dispatch field personnel
Support the Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) including the fiber optic and network equipment
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree in Engineering or related field
Three years general engineering experience
Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities
May require a valid California driver's license
Preferred
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication and customer service skills as well as the ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks, track details and work well under pressure
Team player and ability to work with staff to complete tasks and projects
Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes after normal City business hours that may extend past midnight, weekends and holidays
Experience working in a TMC and traffic signal systems
