Senior/ Research Associate 2

The Senior Research Associate 2 will support the Molecular Biology Development team by executing molecular and genetic-based assays while coordinating workflow activities to ensure high-quality clinical assays are developed and launched for patient care.

Responsibilities
Independently execute in-lab efforts both manually and using automated liquid handlers to develop non-invasive nucleic acid based diagnostic tests
Experience with automation systems, particularly liquid handling platforms, is required for this role
Assist in the design, execution, and troubleshooting of laboratory workflows in collaboration with scientists, engineers, and cross-functional teams
Perform basic data analysis using tools such as Excel, JMP, or similar software
Contribute to the preparation of reports and other deliverables
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs); provide training on established methods as needed
Contribute to the optimization of new methods and technologies supporting next-generation oncology monitoring assays
Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., Laboratory Operations, Scientific Operations, CLIA) to plan and improve logistical workflow processes
Maintain compliance with Natera’s training, security, and privacy standards, including HIPAA/PHI and general policy requirements
Adhere to environmental, health and safety (EHS) guidelines and good laboratory practices (GLP)
Demonstrate flexibility in managing multiple priorities and perform additional duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
BS/BA in a biological science or equivalent
Minimum of 4 years Molecular Biology laboratory experience required
Minimum of 2 - 3 years of industry experience in an assay development department
Hands-on experience with nucleic acid techniques, including DNA manipulation, PCR, qPCR, DNA quantification, and analysis using LabChip and BioAnalyzer systems
Strong background in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) techniques, protocols, and data analysis workflows
Whole Blood processing (Isolation and extraction experience)
Proficient in target enrichment, circulating cell-free DNA/RNA (cfDNA/cfRNA) processing, and library preparation for sequencing applications
Automation skill set is a must, including experience with developing or executing assays on automated liquid handling platforms
Experience with reagent quality control (QC) and troubleshooting assay performance
Practical knowledge of LIMS/database query tools
Proficient in data analysis using Excel and related software
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with exceptional attention to detail
Must have proven interpersonal, communication, computer, and technical skills
Self-motivated, adaptable, and results-driven professional with a demonstrated track record of success in both independent and collaborative projects
