Responsibilities

Develop and execute sourcing strategies for fresh and frozen seafood categories
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supply agreements with domestic and international vendors
Monitor commodity markets, seasonality, and global supply trends to anticipate cost fluctuations and mitigate risk
Identify and onboard new suppliers aligned with quality, sustainability, and cost objectives
Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure consistent quality, service levels, and competitive pricing
Evaluate supplier performance through KPIs including fill rates, quality metrics, on-time delivery, and cost adherence
Conduct regular business reviews with key suppliers
Manage inventory levels to balance service, freshness, and working capital objectives
Analyze sales trends, shrink, margins, and forecast demand to optimize purchasing decisions
Partner with sales and operations teams to align procurement strategies with customer demand
Ensure all seafood purchases meet regulatory requirements (FDA, HACCP, GMP) and internal quality standards
Collaborate with QA and food safety teams to resolve quality issues and ensure traceability
Maintain documentation related to certifications, sustainability practices, and audits
Work closely with operations, logistics, finance, and sales teams to align supply plans with customer commitments
Support new product introductions and promotional planning
Provide market updates and pricing insights to leadership and commercial teams

Required

MUST HAVE SEAFOOD BUYING EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Food Science, or related field
3–7+ years of seafood procurement or protein buying experience within foodservice, wholesale, distribution, or retail
Strong understanding of seafood species, seasonality, grading, and market dynamics
Experience negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships
Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
Knowledge of food safety regulations and traceability standards
Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills

Preferred

Experience buying for multi-site distribution networks
Knowledge of international sourcing and import logistics
Familiarity with sustainability certifications (MSC, ASC, BAP)
Background in perishable inventory management
