Dynamic Standards International (DSI) is seeking an Independent Chair for the SC1001 Steering Committee, a unique leadership position that combines a governance role with a strategic growth opportunity. Responsibilities
Chair the Steering Committee: Facilitate quarterly meetings, drive consensus, and manage committee dynamics
Ensure Due Process: Uphold DSI's governance policies, ensuring transparency, vendor neutrality, and proper conflict-of-interest management
Oversight: Approve meeting agendas and direct the committee's annual work plan
SMB Practicality: Rigorously test every proposed requirement against the reality of a small business environment
Backward Compatibility: Ensure that annual updates to the standard remain backward compatible where possible, minimizing disruption to existing certified organisations while addressing new threats
Gap Analysis: Oversee the identification of gaps based on the latest threat intelligence
Facilitation: Create an inclusive environment where diverse stakeholder views (technical, MSP, policy) are heard and synthesized
Consensus Building: Resolve technical impasses and guide the committee toward unified decisions
Global Ambassador: Serve as the public face of SMB1001 at international conferences, media engagements, and industry forums
Thought Leadership: Author white papers and articles that establish DSI’s authority in the market
Funding & Sponsorship: Actively work with the DSI Executive to identify and secure sponsors, grants, and funding partners
Sustainability: Drive the transition from a grant/volunteer-based model to a sustainable operating model
Government Engagement: Lobby for the recognition of SMB1001 in national cyber strategies across key jurisdictions (APAC, UK, EMEA, Americas)
Partnerships: Forge alliances with industry bodies and certification organisations to accelerate adoption
Qualification
Required
Proven track record of chairing committees, boards, or working groups (consensus-based decision making)
Strict independence from commercial conflicts (e.g., vendors, specific MSPs)
Deep understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001) and SMB operational realities
Ability to manage diverse stakeholders and drive outcomes
Preferred
Experience in fundraising, sponsorship acquisition, or commercial strategy
"Evangelist" profile with strong stage presence and media experience
Established relationships with government and industry leaders across multiple regions
