Responsibilities

Serve as the firm's senior subject‑matter expert for multi‑employer defined benefit plans
Lead all annual actuarial valuations, projections, and funding studies
Oversee experience studies, assumption-setting, withdrawal liability calculations, zone status certifications, and regulatory filings
Perform high‑level technical reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with ERISA, PBGC, IRS regulations, and industry standards
Act as the day‑to‑day strategic advisor for trustees, labor unions, and employer groups
Present complex actuarial concepts in clear, actionable terms to a non‑technical audience
Support clients in plan design changes, funding strategy development, and long‑term financial risk assessment
Provide guidance during collective bargaining negotiations and board meetings
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of actuarial staff; establish best‑practice review processes and training frameworks
Streamline workflows, enhance documentation, and evaluate tools or software to increase efficiency and quality
Shape division strategy, operational priorities, and long‑term growth initiatives in partnership with executive leadership
Build or refine actuarial models, valuation processes, and reporting capabilities
Identify opportunities to modernize systems and elevate the firm's consulting methodology
Champion continuous improvement, quality control, and knowledge-sharing across the team

Required

FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation
Enrolled Actuary (EA) designation
10+ years of pension actuarial experience, including substantial work with multi‑employer plans
Deep technical expertise in funding valuations, withdrawal liability, compliance requirements, experience studies, and assumption‑setting
Strong communication skills with demonstrated experience advising senior stakeholders and presenting to trustee boards
Leadership experience managing teams and overseeing complex deliverables
