RESEARCH DATA SPECIALIST II
The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is seeking a Research Data Specialist II to analyze tax program datasets and provide insights on tax policy. This role involves leading analytical studies, estimating revenue impacts of legislation, and preparing statistical analyses for reports and publications.

Responsibilities
Analyze existing tax program datasets and identify tax policy insights
Present recommendations to key stakeholders
Serve in a lead capacity to Research Data Specialist I positions performing various analytical studies and statistical work
Estimate the revenue impacts of proposed legislation, regulations, and management and executive requests pertaining to taxes administered by the CDTFA
Work independently and serve as one of the section’s statistical experts regarding business tax policy issues
Prepare statistical analysis for external publications and scheduled reports
Estimate tax revenue and sales tax reimbursements to the CDTFA for preparation of the department's budget
Qualification
Required
Proficiently use a personal computer
Intermediate to advance experience using statistical and data visualization software packages, such as PowerBI, SOL, Python, R-studio, Arc-GIS, etc
