Responsibilities
Design and develop a precision projectile launch system capable of high repetition rates and tight performance tolerances
Own mechanical architecture, component selection, and design-for-manufacturing considerations
Perform and interpret CFD and related analyses to understand internal flow behavior, projectile dynamics, and trajectory dispersion
Design and execute experimental test campaigns to validate performance, diagnose failure modes, and guide iteration
Develop methods for controlling projectile stability, alignment, and repeatability across operating conditions
Address durability, wear, and lifetime considerations for components subject to repeated high-energy cycles
Collaborate closely with adjacent engineering and modeling teams to ensure system-level integration
Interface with external vendors and suppliers where specialized components or fabrication processes are required
Qualification
Required
5–10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering roles developing high-speed, high-energy, and/or high-precision machines
Expert-level knowledge of projectiles/launch systems from the weapons industry, counter-UAS, aerospace, or other forms of experimental acceleration
Strong grounding in fluid dynamics and experience applying CFD to real-world hardware problems
Demonstrated ability turning ambiguous and ambitious requirements into reality through prototyping, testing, and iterative development
Comfort operating in early-stage or R&D-heavy environments where requirements evolve rapidly
