Senior Facilities Engineer
PTS Advance is seeking an experienced Facilities Coordinator / Mechanical Engineer to support the engineering, design, and execution of complex energy infrastructure projects. This role involves technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Develop engineering specifications, drawings, and detailed design calculations for assigned projects
Define project objectives, scopes, estimates, and responsibilities in collaboration with program and project leadership
Lead engineering and design efforts for:
Gas compression facilities
LNG and renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities
Liquid pump stations, gas processing and dehydration systems
Heaters, filter separators, pipelines, metering facilities, and slug catchers
Prepare procurement scopes of work; evaluate vendor proposals and provide technical award recommendations
Review vendor drawings for compliance with specifications, codes, standards, and best practices
Perform and/or review complex engineering calculations (pipe sizing, valve sizing, hydraulics, compressor and pump design, hydrostatic testing, etc.)
Specify materials and equipment; prepare data sheets and equipment specifications as required
Support engineering manhour estimates, proposals, and total installed cost estimates
Monitor project progress, review design status, and recommend corrective actions to maintain schedule and budget
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, safety requirements, and project standards
Interface professionally with clients, vendors, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders
Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams, including contractors
Mentor and supervise engineering staff; provide technical training and presentations
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more specialized areas
Lead procurement efforts and field engineering activities, including on-site meetings
Review and redline PFDs, P&IDs, site plans, and coordinate closely with drafters
Present technical findings, solutions, and recommendations clearly to leadership
Independently manage and complete primary design tasks with minimal supervision
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related engineering discipline
7+ years of professional engineering experience, including 5+ years in oil & gas or utilities
5+ years of experience with turbomachinery (compressors, turbines)
Strong working knowledge of PFDs, P&IDs, piping drawings, isometrics, BOMs, and general arrangements
Thorough understanding of applicable industry codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API, NFPA, CSA; including ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, 49 CFR 192 & 195)
Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills
Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Preferred: Chicago, Naperville, or Milwaukee
