Mass Spec Core - Research Scientist
The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Research Scientist to conduct independent scientific research projects and manage laboratory operations. The role involves complex laboratory work focused on biological sample analysis using LC-HRMS, along with training undergraduates and coordinating with specialists.

Responsibilities
Conducts independent scientific research projects from inception to presentation
Prepares and crafts various documentations of research results into manuscripts, proposals, grant applications, and presentations
Trains undergraduates and research technicians
Manages laboratory policies and coordinates project development in collaboration with other specialists
Performing a variety of independent and complex laboratory work and research focused on the analysis of biological samples (metabolites, lipids and proteins) by liquid chromatography high resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS)
Independently develop, optimize, and validate LC-HRMS assays to support research and development efforts of the core
Involves method development, sample preparation, data acquisition, data analysis, troubleshooting, instrument maintenance, and documentation in a regulated or research environment
Involved in collaborative efforts and provide scientific leadership in LC-HRMS-based projects
Qualification
Required
Professional Doctorate Degree
5 years of experience
Ability to conduct independent scientific research projects from inception to presentation
Experience in preparing and crafting various documentations of research results into manuscripts, proposals, grant applications, and presentations
Experience in training undergraduates and research technicians
Ability to manage laboratory policies and coordinate project development in collaboration with other specialists
Experience in performing independent and complex laboratory work and research focused on the analysis of biological samples (metabolites, lipids and proteins) by liquid chromatography high resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS)
Ability to independently develop, optimize, and validate LC-HRMS assays

Ability to provide scientific leadership in LC-HRMS-based projects
Availability for some evening and weekend hours
Ability to walk around campus, sit and stand for long periods, and bend to lift and put away supplies
