Intern, Lead and Cooper Program
Aquarion Water Company is hiring an intern in Water Quality to assist with compliance related to lead and copper regulations. The role involves various responsibilities including customer outreach, data review, and supporting the Water Quality Information Services Coordinator.

Assist in the preparation of notifications to consumers regarding service lines
Assist in the review of language requirements related to customer communications for drinking water compliance
Perform data review as directed related to identification of service lines and customer mailings
Perform ongoing recordkeeping efforts for property manager certifications
Perform outreach to customers related to identifying unknown service lines and for sampling requests
As needed, safely drive to customer homes within Aquarion’s Connecticut systems to drop off and pick up samples
Support the Water Quality Information Services Coordinator with soliciting customer participation in the lead and copper monitoring program, as well as communicating results
Support the laboratory information system process by receiving samples. Prepare samples for transference to contract laboratories
Performs all duties in a manner consistent with company safety procedures for working and general driving safety
The position may also assist with the Connecticut reservoir deeps program when needed, which involves working on a boat to collect water samples from a reservoir
Qualification
Required
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to assist in the preparation of notifications to consumers regarding service lines
Ability to assist in the review of language requirements related to customer communications for drinking water compliance
Ability to perform data review as directed related to identification of service lines and customer mailings
Ability to perform ongoing recordkeeping efforts for property manager certifications
Ability to perform outreach to customers related to identifying unknown service lines and for sampling requests

Have or be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
Applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds
Preferred
Experience in the drinking water field is desired
Interest in regulatory compliance and how drinking water utilities maintain regulatory compliance
Strong written and oral communication skills
Above average problem-solving and analytical abilities
Proficiency with Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
1-2 years experience with Customer Service
Clean driving record
Boating experience including Boating Certificate from CTDEEP preferred
