Responsibilities
Support and augment the agency's central log solution (Splunk) to deploy custom dashboard for SOC operators, index complex logs from non-standard security devices
Provide engineering support (requirements, design, implementation planning) for new security tools and technologies
Document implementation guides, operations guides, and administrative guides for SOC services based on implemented technologies
Keep abreast of advances and changes to computing infrastructure. Understand how changes impact cyber security and propose and implement the most effective security solutions
Act as a core technical member in a cyber security incident response team
Analyze the security risks associated with changes in the agency's computing infrastructure and then provide the design and implementation of safeguards to minimize the risks to an acceptable level
Qualification
Required
Experience operating in a SOC environment as an engineer
Experience managing incident response technologies
Experience with requirement gathering, testing, documenting, designing and implementing new security technologies in a complex high available environment
Experience implementing Splunk dashboards based on the operator requirements
Working knowledge of IPS technology
Support and augment the agency's central log solution (Splunk) to deploy custom dashboard for SOC operators
Provide engineering support (requirements, design, implementation planning) for new security tools and technologies
Document implementation guides, operations guides, and administrative guides for SOC services based on implemented technologies
Keep abreast of advances and changes to computing infrastructure

Preferred
BS in Engineering, Computer Science or related Science degree
1-3 years working in a SOC environment
Experience managing or tuning IPS
Experience developing Splunk Enterprise dashboards, indexers, and visualization
Certified Information Systems Security Professional or Security +
