Start in 2026 SummerThe Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is responsible for overseeing the construction and maintenance of the state's transportation infrastructure. They are seeking a Paid College Intern to gain practical experience in various areas such as construction, design, traffic studies, and operations while working under supervision.

Responsibilities
Gain exposure to culvert, bridge, and roadway design
Use the latest CADD technology
Assist design engineers with project-related field work
Receive training in proper procedures for inspection of work being done by contractors
Assist with a variety of planning activities involving traffic engineering studies
Become familiar with PC based & mainframe CADD systems, Microstation, & various software packages used by the District
Serve as an understudy or assistant on small projects
Perform specific technical tasks as assigned
Assist with engineering studies & preliminary engineering
Operate survey measuring devices & instruments in order to obtain survey data & calculate precise measurements
Utilize personal computer and various software packages used by the District in the archiving of survey data
Assist in creating spreadsheets and paper filing system for all overhead sign supports in the district
Enter data on spreadsheets for net pavement marking contract
Help organize signal shop for inventory
Qualification
Required
Must currently be enrolled in a college or university and in good academic standing with a minimum of a 2.00 GPA
Must show proof of valid driver's license in order to operate state vehicle
Preferred
Preferred Major: Civil Engineering
