Responsibilities
Draft, review, and finalize estate planning documents, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, and related instruments
Design estate plans that address tax efficiency, family goals, and long-term wealth transfer strategies
Prepare and supervise probate petitions, court filings, and fiduciary accountings
Represent clients in probate court and support/lead trust litigation matters as needed
Manage a diverse trusts and estates caseload and develop case strategies, timelines, and task delegation
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients—communicating clearly, setting expectations, and advising on legal options
Conduct legal research and analyze financial information to support planning, administration, and dispute strategy
Appear in court for hearings and lead settlement negotiations when disputes arise
Mentor, train, and support associates and staff to ensure consistent work quality and efficient client service
Qualification
Required
5–10 years of substantive experience in trusts and estates (planning, administration, and probate)
Active Member of the State Bar of California
Strong drafting skills across estate planning instruments and probate-related filings
Advanced legal research, writing, and analytical ability; capable of managing sensitive and high-stakes matters
Strong professional judgment, reliability, and discretion with confidential client information
Juris Doctor (JD) required
Active State Bar of California membership
Preferred
Experience with law firm client management/practice management software preferred
Advanced law degree or specialization in the practice area preferred
