Chief Instructor
NJ TRANSIT is transforming the third-largest transportation agency in North America, and they are seeking a Chief Instructor to oversee and enhance the training of Instructors and Bus Operators. This role involves auditing performance, developing training programs, and coordinating training activities to ensure high standards of instruction are met.

Responsibilities
Audits the performance of Instructors, and provides coaching and counselling as needed to Instructors, students, and Operators
Analyze and review data from various systems (EPS, Samsara) to identify operators who could benefit from refresher training that will advance their performance
Utilize LMS (Learning Management System) to create and track training content. Track effectiveness of existing training, and develop new, state-of-the art training programs to address areas where new training is needed to improve Bus Operators’ skills
Assigns Instructors to meet special or unscheduled requirements
Reviews, corrects, and forwards, with comments, Instructors' Special reports
Performs classroom and field instruction in the form of Train-the-Trainer
Trains new Instructors
Serves as a leader for special projects and/or new vehicle acquisitions
Prepares input for operational considerations for new vehicle and facilities specifications
Coordinates training activities with Garage Supervisors and Garage Superintendents
Responsible for ensuring the acceptable condition of garage instruction rooms
Identifies, reports, and recommends improvements in departmental procedures
Participates in the development, implementation and updating of standard operating procedures
Represents NJ TRANSIT in official hearings or arbitrations as an expert witness, regarding Bus Operator Training
Performs all other duties assigned by the Director
Qualification
Required
High School diploma, or equivalent
Commercial Drivers' License with passenger and airbrake endorsements and six (6) years of transit operations experience
Excellent coaching/supervision, communication and writing skills are required
Must be able to prepare lesson plans, Power Point presentations and training materials, teach in both classroom and field environments using proper teaching techniques, and operate all audio-visual equipment unassisted
Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel to include opening, creating documents, saving and revising documents without assistance
Must be willing to work out of both Walter Rand and Ferry Street training facilities
Preferred
Four (4) years of experience in design, development, and presentation of operational training programs
Experience using Learning Management System and two (2) years' experience creating training programs using e-learning course authoring tools
Five years of experience working in an office environment with diverse administrative duties
Experience developing electronic learning (eLearning) desired
Knowledge of Microsoft Access is a plus
