Responsibilities
Establish and maintain standards and control frameworks for enterprise data security
Design, develop, deploy, and manage data security solutions including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), data discovery and classification, encryption, masking, tagging, and cloud data protection
Lead implementation and tuning of DLP and related controls across endpoints, email, networks, databases, and cloud platforms
Conduct data-focused risk assessments and vulnerability analyses, including third‑party and vendor cyber risk reviews
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (security, infrastructure, application, data, and business teams) to design and implement data protection controls and best practices
Provide expert guidance on data privacy, regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI, or similar), and risk mitigation strategies
Define, track, and report data security KPIs and metrics to demonstrate control effectiveness and drive continuous improvement
Monitor, investigate, and respond to data security incidents, leading root‑cause analysis and corrective action plans
Regularly review and enhance data security policies, standards, and procedures to reflect evolving threats, regulations, and industry best practices
Build strong working relationships and communicate complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, MIS, or related field; or an equivalent combination of associate degree, military experience, and/or professional cybersecurity experience with relevant certifications
2+ years of hands‑on experience in cybersecurity, information security, or a closely related field
One or more cybersecurity certifications preferred, such as CISSP, GIAC, MCSE, CEH, GICSP, CSSA, CISM
Preferred
5+ years of experience in data engineering, database design, or data platform architectures, with a focus on security and governance
Demonstrated experience with enterprise DLP, data discovery/classification, and encryption technologies
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence and drive outcomes across teams
Advanced cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, OSCP, CCSP, GIAC, MCSE, GICSP, CSSA)
