Responsibilities

Conduct audits requiring the application of legal knowledge and principles
Plan, organize, and conduct revenue audits to ensure the effective reporting and collection of all required taxes and fees
Research a variety of topics and prepare comprehensive financial analysis and revenue estimates, if needed, on the research performed
Apply general, enterprise and governmental accounting including GAAP and FASB accounting standards and GAAS

Required

Experience applying the principles of general, enterprise and governmental accounting, including GAAP and FASB accounting standards and GAAS
Experience applying federal and state tax laws and regulations and tax court decisions
Experience applying City and County codes (or similar tax laws), identifying incorrect data, and understanding if taxes are being paid appropriately through application of appropriate tax laws, codes, or regulations
Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and reaching sound conclusions and recommendations in accordance with laws, regulations, rules, and policies
Ability to understand, interpret, explain, and apply City and County codes/ordinances (or similar tax laws) to interested parties
Experience planning, organizing, and conducting sound, comprehensive tax and financial audits

Preferred

Experience in a public agency is preferred
Veteran's Preference documents (e.g., DD214-Member 4, VA Benefit Letter) must be submitted by the closing date
Effective January 1, 2026, the State of Oregon law ORS 408.225 - 408.238 is amended to expand eligibility for Veterans' Preference to current and former Oregon National Guard service members. If applicants are existing state or former Oregon National Guard servicemembers, they are encouraged to attach appropriate documentation to their future recruitment applications
