Responsibilities

Initial drafting and review of certain legal documents, such as consulting agreements, memoranda of understanding, and contract correspondence
Supporting management of investigations, claims and litigation matters, including support for discovery responses and maintaining and implementing requirements of project litigation management plan; issuing and tracking litigation holds
Reviewing and advising on procurement and subcontracting matters, including collaborating with supply chain professionals to negotiate deviations from standard subcontract terms, assisting with subcontract administration matters such as bid and proposal issues, invoicing issues, intellectual property issues, performance deficiencies, compliance issues, and claims and disputes
Reviewing and determining appropriate responses to incoming requests, documents and correspondence, including Freedom of Information Requests
Reviewing and evaluating legal aspects of prime contract requirements, deliverables and changes
Performing web-based research tasks, including location and review of relevant project records, public records, regulations and statutes
Performing legal research in various areas of law
Tracking, organization and filing of contracts, legal documents, presentations and correspondence

Required

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)
Strong experience and abilities with standard office software, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Experience with PACER, Lexis/Nexis and/or Westlaw
Ability to handle confidential information and communications in a secure and discrete manner
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to work well as part of a small, cohesive team
Paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate legal department
Experience in procurement and subcontracts, preferably in a DOE or related agency environment
DOE or government contractor experience
