They are seeking a Global Cost Controller to establish and manage cost accounting and inventory management processes as the company transitions to scaled production.

Responsibilities
Build and own the global cost accounting framework for high-volume equipment manufacturing, including standard costing, variance analysis, and margin tracking
Establish product-level cost models across materials, labor, overhead, and subcontracted manufacturing
Analyze and explain cost variances (PPV, usage, yield, labor, overhead absorption) and partner with Operations and Supply Chain to drive root-cause resolution
Support pricing, margin analysis, and make-vs-buy decisions with accurate and defensible cost data
Design and oversee global inventory accounting, valuation, and controls across internal operations and contract manufacturers
Implement policies for inventory capitalization, reserves, excess and obsolete inventory, and cycle counting
Ensure accurate tracking of WIP, finished goods, consigned inventory, and inventory held at third-party manufacturers
Partner closely with Supply Chain and Manufacturing to manage high PO volume, complex BOMs, and long lead-time components
Lead cost accounting and inventory setup within ERP and related systems (new implementations or enhancements as the company scales)
Define scalable processes for BOM maintenance, routing accuracy, standard cost updates, and month-end close
Build reporting and dashboards to provide leadership with clear visibility into unit economics, inventory exposure, and production efficiency
Establish internal controls aligned with defense and government contracting requirements
Act as the primary finance partner to Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Program Management
Support audits, compliance reviews, and documentation requirements related to inventory and cost accounting
Collaborate with FP&A on forecasting, budgeting, and production volume assumptions, ensuring alignment with cost reality
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, or inventory accounting within hardware, industrial, aerospace, defense, or high-tech manufacturing environments
Deep experience with high-volume manufacturing and complex supply chains, including contract manufacturers
Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, and manufacturing variance analysis
Hands-on ERP experience (strong preference for Odoo); comfort building processes rather than inheriting them
Ability to operate as an individual contributor in a build-out phase, with the opportunity to scale a team over time
Preferred
Experience in regulated environments (defense, aerospace, government contracting) strongly preferred
